Icelandic outdoor brand 66°North has developed a jacket with Polartec’s NeoShell, said to be waterproof to 10,000 mm without restricting the release of body heat and vapour.

Though the company describes the Snæfell Neoshell as a “classic shell jacket with simplicity and versatility at the core of its design”, the jacket has won the ISPO Outdoor Award and the Scandinavian Outdoor Award.

“For years the outerwear industry has prioritized excessively high waterproof ratings that sacrifice the breathable performance needed during physical activity,” 66°North said of the jacket. Breathability is reported to be around 30.000g/m2/24h.
