WWF partnership to help Anta progress ESG projects
Anta Group has signed a three-year commitment to be a global strategic partner of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) within China’s sports textiles industry. Aid from WWF will help Anta and its upstream and downstream partners to make progress in environment, social and governance (“ESG”) issues.
Anta said it will also work with partners to develop and produce more sustainable sportswear by promoting the concept of reuse and by developing biodegradable raw materials.
One key objective of the partnership will be promoting the “textile factory assessment and improvement system” to facilitate the green transformation of the textile industry (including improvements in water usage, waste emission and supply chain management); reducing energy energy consumption by 30% and water consumption by 22.5%; and reducing total emissions of major water pollutants by 15%.
Anta will also support forest and landscape restoration projects, including initial projects in key areas of Xishuangbanna and Beijing. The partnership will also involve educating consumers about endangered species and biodiversity.
