HR appointment will help make adidas ‘truly diverse’
Germany-based sportswear brand adidas has appointed Amanda Rajkumar (pictured) as head of HR, following the departure of Karen Parkin in June.

Ms Rajkumar will join adidas in 2021 from French bank BNP Paribas, where she worked for 11 years.

Adidas chairman Thomas said: “I am delighted that the board is complete again and that adidas can start the new year with full strength.

“Adidas is one of the most popular employers worldwide and diversity characterizes adidas like few other companies. We not only want to maintain this position, we want to strengthen it and make adidas a truly diverse, inclusive, people-driven and equitable company.”

Karen Parkin stepped down in June after some employees called for an investigation over her handling of racism at the company.

She said at the time: “While we have made progress in many areas, there is much more work to be done. However, it has become clear to me that to unify the organization it would be better for me to retire and pave the way for change. Now is the right time for a new HR leader to take over the function, to seize the opportunity before us and drive forward the pace of change to create a more diverse and inclusive adidas that we can all be proud of.”

Amanda Rajkumar said: “Adidas has a prominent and rich history in this extraordinary industry and has already accomplished so much but can still achieve so much more. The talent and creativity within the firm speaks for itself and I cannot wait to immerse myself in the employee base and culture."
