Mental health focus for Vans Checkerboard Day
Footwear brand Vans and its customers have raised $1 million for charities as part of its #VansCheckerboardDay initiative.

Each charity partner will receive over $100,000, directly from Vans or from the Vans Checkerboard Fund at Tides Foundation.

The donations will enable charities to expand their services to help young people address mental health concerns through creative outlets such as art, music and sports.

Get Lit-Words Ignite will use the donation for an online platform through which young people share poems.

Arte Por La Vida will expand its work across Mexico and will fund materials for workshops and pay the teachers.

Singapore Association for Mental Health will offer services digitally; these will include therapy sessions for beneficiaries and caregivers.

There were more than 2 billion views of the #VansCheckerboardDay TikTok Challenge and ambassador testimonials from Tony Hawk, Yaya Zahir and Catalina sharing how their own forms of creative self-expression have helped them.

Since 2013, Vans has donated more than $10 million to creative charities globally.
