Spinnova and Naia boost ZDHC ranks
Two textile companies have become the latest members of the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) group - a collection more than 160 clothing and footwear companies working towards a cleaner industry.

Finnish company Spinnova makes wood-based materials that are biodegradable, create zero waste and are made with significantly less water than cotton.

Its CEO, Janne Poranen, said: “We are honoured to join this influential community. We want to help promote a cleaner textile industry in any way we can, based on our experience of a material innovation that involves no harmful chemicals.”

US-based textile company Eastman has also joined through its Naia cellulosic fibre, which is made from wood pulp in a closed-loop process where solvents are recycled back into the process for reuse.

IDH - The Sustainable Trade Initiative has also joined. The Dutch company encourages joint investment in innovative models, boosting sustainable production and trade.

BAM Bamboo Clothing has joined as a ‘Friend’ of ZDHC.

ZDHC said: “ZDHC applauds these organisations in joining our mission and looks forward to a year of collaboration and engagement in the ZDHC Roadmap to Zero Programme.”
