Elevate joins Business Ambition for 1.5ºC campaign

The US-based parent group of American & Efird, Burlington, Cone Denim, Gütermann and Safety Components, Elevate Textiles, recently announced its commitment to the Business Ambition for 1.5ºC campaign. 

Led by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), the United Nations (UN) Global Compact and the We Mean Business coalition, the campaign is intended to persuade companies to set emissions reduction targets that support keeping global warming at no more than 1.5 degrees Celsius (ºC) above pre-industrial levels. 

Commenting on the move, the group’s chief sustainability officer, Jimmy Summers, said: “Elevate is proud to be among leading companies who have committed to set science-based emissions reduction targets and are taking action to drive a more sustainable future. 

“The need for business leaders to fight for a net-zero economy by 2050 is increasingly crucial and we are actively participating in global strategic initiatives including SBTi, Sustainable Apparel Coalition, ZDHC Programme and the UN Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action, among others.”

Elevate published its 2021 sustainability report on Earth Day.
