Korean government honours Toray exec for covid action
A decision last year at Toray Advanced Materials in South Korea to switch production of nonwoven materials from personal hygiene products to masks has earned company vice-president Park Seo-jin an honour from the government in Seoul.
Mr Park took the decision to convert Toray’s production facilities for spunbond nonwoven fabric into a centre for the production of filters for masks at a time in early 2020 when South Korea was experiencing a shortage in supply. Toray’s contribution allowed the South Korean government to put in place its widely praised plan of measures to counter covid-19.
As a result, the Toray vice-president was one of a number of people to receive a special award for promoting public health at a special ceremony earlier this year.
