Swimwear brand among British Fashion Council’s changemakers

UK-based swimwear brand Stay Wild has been nominated for the British Fashion Council (BFC)’s recently launched Changemakers Prize in Partnership with Swarovski, a project which aims to celebrate “unsung stars”.

The brand makes some products using ocean plastic, and collects old swimwear, sending it to be recycled.

Entrants were nominated for the their work within three pillars: environment, people or craftsmanship, and community.

The prize received over 500 applications and a panel of judges selected nine finalists.

Other nominees include Daisy Knatchbull, founder of The Deck London, the first solely-female shop on Saville Row; John Hickling, founder of Glass Onion in South Yorkshire, a vintage and remade clothing provider which ‘remakes’ 12,000 pieces per month; and Andrew Kenny, owner of The London Embroidery Studio.

The winners will be announced on September 2.
