AM launches Artmill for performance wovens

Karachi-based denim mill Artistic Milliners (AM) recently announced the launch of Artmill, a new facility centred on developing “multidimensional” woven fabrics and casualwear that is both versatile and performance-driven.

The new mill will benefit from AM’s operational expertise, long-term investments in advanced machinery and a recent period of strategic investigation into consumer trends and “cutting-edge” technologies (including use of machine learning and automation) in woven fabrics, it said.

Artmill will also be the first LEED platinum certified piece-dye mill in the region and will have capacity to produce 25 million metres annually. A particular emphasis on renewable water and energy sources, plus chemical recycling techniques, will all be baked into the mill's recipes.

The Pakistani enterprise stated that it is ready to provide both turnkey solutions for brands, retailers and manufacturers already operating within the casualwear segment, as well as spearhead custom offerings for startups and premium labels.

Chief executive at both Artmill and AM, Omer Ahmed, commented: “Over the past few years, the expectation for comfort, performance and aesthetic, all in a single item, has risen steadily. Artmill is ready to put horsepower behind the development of clothing that meets this moment.”

AM's managing director, Murtaza Ahmed, also described how the new facility will focus on “the future of textiles” through cross-pollination and hybrid products rooted in innovation, circularity and collaborative partnerships. The intention is to more accurately realise the real desires of contemporary consumers, he explained.
