Xinxiang renews focus on ultra-fine denier spandex
China-based producer Xinxiang Chemical Fiber, based in Henan province, has told local media that one of its key concerns going forward will be continuing to develop its ultra-fine denier spandex category by incorporating smarter and greener manufacturing technologies, in line with the government’s 14th five-year plan for textiles.

A project to expand the annual output of this brand of spandex fibre by another 40,000 tonnes through constructing an automated facility is currently underway, which will substantially stretch the company’s existing total spandex production capacity beyond its current 160,000 tonnes per year.

Already, the firm boasts spinning speeds of more than 1,000 metres per minute, as well as 5G-powered industrial Internet of Things capabilities at existing sites. It said the latter comes with lowered resource consumption when it comes to water and energy, plus improved environmental protection including an an increased rate of recycling its own waste.

The new facility will reportedly integrate unspecified new technologies and raw materials to help further differentiate Xinxiang Chemical Fiber’s offering. It is ultimately hoped that this focus on “more intelligent and green” spandex will boost its competitiveness on the global stage.

In related news, the company also recently opened a second factory dedicated to producing regenerated cellulose fibres, an undertaking which it told reporters was closely bound up with its environmental sustainability commitments.
