CCFA in Testex tie-up to promote its ‘green’ mark
China Chemical Fibers Association (CCFA) has joined hands with Swiss textile testing and certification group Testex, according to reports in Chinese media.
Testex is the official representative of Oeko-Tex certifications and labels in around 30 locations worldwide. Its presence on the Chinese mainland includes branches in Beijing and Shanghai.
CCFA launched its own "green" fibres certification programme several years ago, which allows qualified chemical fibre companies to display its green fibre logo on their products. In May 2021, the mark was extended to cover finished products, not only fibres.
Typically, the Chinese body’s certification demands that the fibres and products are made from recyclable or biomass-derived materials through a low-carbon and “environmentally friendly” production process. They must also be considered safe, non-polluting and/or recyclable.
As a result of their partnership, it is thought that Testex will help facilitate a “wider range of cooperation” between Oeko-Tex’s Standard 100, in particular, and CCFA’s own green mark.
Cooperation between the two parties will not only help promote more sustainable fibres within China, reports said, but also support local enterprises through the reduction of inspection and testing costs.
Just under 40 China-based producers have obtained CCFA’s green fibre certification to date.
