Jilin’s revenues surge despite covid measures
Local media have reported that Jilin Chemical Fiber, a north-eastern Chinese producer of viscose, acrylic, bamboo and other fibres, achieved around $805 million or ¥5.13 billion in revenues during the first quarter (Q1), representing a year-on-year rise of 31%.

This is despite the effects of state-level epidemic prevention and control on the company’s workforce capacity during the month of March, in particular, when it was forced to begin operating with only one-third of its staff.

Specifically, Jilin’s production of raw silk, carbon fibre and composite textile materials all achieved record highs, whereas acrylic fibre output totalled nearly 70,000 tonnes over the quarter, resulting in a 107% improvement in the enterprise’s production rate. Regarding viscose, product prices strengthened in Q1, Chinese media said.

Jilin also reported a noticeable increase in bamboo fibre demand from customers in Pakistan, Turkey and India.
