Wolford names social-savvy sustainability advisor
Austrian hosiery, lingerie and ready-to-wear brand Wolford, which has previously collaborated on activewear collections with adidas and Italy’s GCDS, has appointed Moldovan model and sustainability advocate Doina Ciobanu (pictured) to the role of brand sustainability advisor.
Ms Ciobanu, who currently boasts one million followers on Instagram alone, will report directly to chief commercial officer, Silvia Azzali. Her mission will be to further hone - and, crucially, advance awareness of - Wolford’s recycled and biodegradable lines.
“We have strived ever so hard to create real sustainability in skinwear," commented Ms Azzali. "[Doina will help] communicate our essential mission and take our success to another level.”
Founded in Bregenz in 1950, Wolford aims for 50% of its assortment to be recyclable by 2025 and intends to grow this number to 100% of products by 2029. Product durability, recyclability and biodegradability are key pillars of the company’s sustainability strategy and it first achieved Cradle to Cradle recognition in 2018, since achieving gold-level certification for both the technical and biological cycles.
