Investment carries waterless dyeing forward

Investment and advisory firm Tau, based out of Hong Kong and New York City, has established a special purpose vehicle for acquiring and managing “significant interests” in two companies working to eliminate water from the textile dyeing process, DyeCoo and CleanDye.

DyeCoo is headquartered in the Netherlands, whereas CleanDye has offices in Amsterdam, Ho Chi Minh City and Hong Kong.

The former’s technology, which uses reclaimed carbon dioxide as a carrier for dye, offers a waterless and process chemical-free system using proprietary equipment called DyeOx. CleanDye, meanwhile, operates a purpose-built Vietnamese textile dyeing facility designed to run using DyeOx exclusively.

“This is a unique opportunity to support two organisations bringing a new facet of sustainability to the garment industry,” commented chief executive at Tau, Oliver Niedermaier.

Ingka, Nike and Otto Group are all counted as existing investors, alongside customers including adidas, Decathlon and Bonprix.
