Hong Kong showcase celebrates biomaterials progress
Fabrica X, the concept store that sustainability acceleration platform The Mills Fabrica runs in Hong Kong, has launched a six-month showcase for innovations in biomaterials in textiles.
Relaunched in July 2022, Fabrica X combines retail, education, and “experiential discoveries” through different campaigns related to sustainability.
Its partners for this new project include New York-based biomaterials consultancy Biofabricate and yarn developer Lenzing.
“Our first campaign in 2023 serves to showcase and celebrate the wonders and progress made in biomaterials science,” said the head of The Mills Fabrica’s business in Asia, Cintia Nunes. “Today we are seeing lab innovations transform into beautiful, practical, and biodegradable fabrics, dyes, and materials spun into clothing. We urge consumers and businesses to rethink conventional textile materials and understand the real environmental and social implications of their purchases.”
