The Mills Fabrica turns attention to sportswear with London exhibition

Starting on 26 January and running until June in London, an exhibition curated by The Mills Fabrica will show how innovation, materials and systems could redefine performance clothing and footwear.

Ranging from start-ups, through commercial scale suppliers to global brands, Performance Without Toxicity aims to celebrate “a growing ecosystem of solutions advancing a clean, circular and regenerative path forward”.

The exhibition spotlights Japanese brand Goldwin and the breakthroughs backed by its corporate venture arm, including Brewed Protein fibre, developed by Spiber; Synflux’s algorithmic design technology, and PlaX plant-derived PLA.

Elastane maker Hyosung will showcase recycled, recyclable and bio-based solutions while Lenzing and The Alliance for European Flax-Linen & Hemp will demonstrate bio-renewable materials at scale.

For the footwear sector,  Balena will present its compostable, bio-based shoe created with Stella McCartney while  Vivobarefoot will show its investments in algae-derived foams, bio-based polymers and recycled natural fibres.

Other exhibitors include textile-to-textile innovator Ambercycle, heat-dissolvable threads-maker Resortecs, and Tera Mira, a bio-based elastane alternative made from seaweed.

The free exhibition at Fabrica X, Kings Cross, runs from 26 January to 26 June, Monday to Friday, 9am - 6pm.
