Brrr raises another $6.3 million
US-based cooling yarns developer Brrr has raised $6.3 million in a series B round of fundraising.
The funds were secured from investors such as designer David Chu, founder of sports and casualwear brand Nautica, the company said. Mr Chu will now join Brrr’s board of directors and will support the team with fabric design and global sales through his DC Designs International business.
Founded in 2014 and headquartered in Atlanta, Brrr’s patented technology, embedded inside the yarn itself, is said to deliver a long-lasting “triple chill effect” through a combination of natural cooling minerals, active wicking and rapid drying performance properties. Its ranges extend beyond yarns to woven and knitted fabrics made from polyester, nylon, cotton, wool and “numerous” other natural or synthetic fibre blends.
“We are delighted to partner with David and bring his visionary expertise and global connections into the Brrr family,” commented founder CEO, Mary-Cathryn Kolb. “Together, Brrr and DC Designs International can accelerate each other’s growth with performance cooling fabrics that are both functional and beautiful.”
