Team of two prepares to represent Lycra at Dornbirn
Fibre group The Lycra Company will send two speakers to the 2023 Dornbirn Global Fibre Congress (GFC) in Austria. The event is taking place for the sixty-second time this year, running in Dornbirn from September 13-15.
The company’s innovation strategy manager, Dr Nicholas Kurland, will present industrially compostable Lycra fibre to the audience on September 13. He will propose the product as a potential benefit for end-of-life management of products made with Lycra fibres.
This new version has “accelerated degradation characteristics”, Dr Kurland said in the build-up to the event in Austria.
For her part, director of sustainable business development, Jean Hegedus, will speak about the recyclability of garments with stretch fibres. Before Dornbirn, Ms Hegedus said: “We are excited to share the results of two trials, one on recycling polyester and Lycra fibre, and the other on recycling a fabric blend of polyester and Lycra T400 fibre. We are very encouraged by the results and believe this lays the groundwork for developing a more circular system with our stretch offerings.”
