UK outdoor industry launches 'real-time' sales dashboard

Industry association the European Outdoor Group (EOG) went live with its new Outdoor Market Intelligence Service (OMIS) during the European Outdoor Summit in Berlin.

Beginning with UK outdoor retailers initially, the OMIS system presents “real-time monthly sales data” on an aggregated basis at brand and model level, from apparel through equipment, footwear, packs, and leggings. Camping and climbing are broken out separately.

EOG said that the OMIS, designed alongside market intelligence company Sporting Insights, has been in development for two years thus far and incorporates data from as far back as 2019.

The full dashboard is expected to go live, covering up to 60% of the UK outdoor market, on November 1, although development will continue afterwards, it explained. Various levels of dataset filters will be added over time, for instance.

Early subscribers will secure their pricing, dependent on the depth and breadth of data they require, for the first three years. Additionally, all who sign up for subscriber-level access will obtain individual SKU data insights, market share comparisons, and more.

EOG operations director, Scott Nelson, commented: “We have worked incredibly hard to develop and test OMIS and refined the dashboard into a tool that will be of most value.

“We’re delighted with the coverage we now have for the UK, but our ambition is to improve that even more and then roll out the service across Europe.

"To achieve that, we need industry support. Once firms start using the OMIS dashboard and recognise its value, I am sure we will get the backing that we need.”
