Yarn manufacturing group Marchi & Fildi has announced that its company president, Massimo Marchi, died in a road traffic accident on March 11.

He was a leading figure in the textile industry in Italy and in his local community in the famous textile town of Biella.

In addition, Mr Marchi lent his expertise and hard work to a number of business and industry bodies.

At the time of his death, he was a member of the Euratex council and was vice-president of Sistema Moda Italia (SMI), a wide-reaching textile and fashion industry body in Italy. At SMI, he had responsibility for issues surrounding research and innovation.
