Indorama plans new PET recycling facilities in India
09/09/2024
The expected surge in demand for rPET is due to the compulsory 30% recycled plastic content in packaging in India by 2025-2026, and then 60% by 2028-2029. Projected uptake should grow from approximately 400,000 tonnes in 2025-2026 to over 1 million tonnes by 2031, the company said.
The joint venture expects to produce 100,000 tonnes annually of rPET across all the facilities. Since it began recycling PET bottles in 2011, Indorama Ventures said it had processed over 100 billion PET bottles in 2023. It plans to be able to treat 750,000 tonnes or 50 billion bottles annually by 2025.
Yesterday, the group announced it had introduced a new corporate logo, a lightened version of its existing trademark visual.
