Next-generation insulation claim from Thermore

Developer of synthetic insulation materials Thermore has launched Ecodown Fibers Sync.

It described the new materials as “next-generation insulation”, with a “cloud-like handfeel” that resists clumping. According to Thermore, this helps give the material “lasting volume”, even after multiple washes.

One recent thermal resistance test probed the performance of a pillow containing Ecodown Fibers Sync. The pillow weighed 250 grammes and had a baffle size of 10 centimetres and a blow-and-stitch construction.

It registered thermal insulation with a CLO value of 3.22 before and after the pillow underwent washing cycles.

In additional to pillows, the manufacturer said the insulation material can work well in streamlined form in technical outerwear, but said it could also be effective in fashion apparel.

In addition, it pointed out that Ecodown Fibers Sync is constructed using 100% recycled fibres, sourced from post-consumer PET bottles.
