EuRIC adopts new name: Recycling Europe
03/10/2025
“While our name has changed, our mission remains the same: to ensure that recyclers are recognised and empowered as indispensable partners in building Europe’s circular and resilient economy,” said Julia Ettinger, Secretary General of the association.
The new name was ushered in ahead of the organisation’s 7th European Recycling Conference in Hamburg, where some 140 recyclers, policymakers and innovators convened on October 1st.
Recycling Europe keeps a close eye on EU legislation on waste and the circular economy, advocating for “a regulatory framework that enables rather than restricts”. It recently reacted to the new EU Waste Directive, calling for its harmonised implementation across all member states for textiles. It emphasised the need for a “consistent structure for calculating EPR fees and eco modulation” and a “standardised reporting template” to avoid duplication or confusion.
Last year, the organisation launched a new trade event specifically for the textile industry, Textiles Recycling Expo, which was held in Brussels. The next edition will be held in Charlotte, North Carolina, on April 29 and 30, 2026.
