Resortecs announces new €6 million funding round

Belgian sustainable tech company Resortecs has closed a Series A funding round of €6 million. Contributors include Goldwin’s Play Earth Fund, SFPIM, Belgium’s sovereign wealth fund for circular infrastructure, the European Innovation Council Fund. It also received additional support from its current investors, makesense, Trividend, ScaleFund, finance&invest.brussels, Fashion for Good, and business angels.

The funds will be used by Resortecs to scale its Smart Disassembly technology. First in line is the opening of a disassembly facility by 2027 which could process up to 3,000 tonnes yearly. Within the next five years, it expects to be able to set up five more decentralized disassembly facilities in Europe. 

The company pointed out that less than 1% of textiles are recycled into new textiles, and a key 
bottleneck is that 78% of these cannot be efficiently disassembled.
