Circular-knit specialist masters recycled cotton’s irregularities
Spain-based Recover has teamed up with Turkish textile manufacturer Ünteks Group for a portfolio of fabrics containing at least 20% recycled cotton.
The fibre’s shorter length means specialist knitting techniques are required to maintain quality.
Hakan Kiliç, CEO of Ünteks, said: “In circular knits, small variations can impact how a fabric behaves in production. A big part of our work with Recover has been adjusting and refining each step so the material runs consistently, from knitting through to the finished garment.”
The collection includes single jersey, fleece, interlock, terry, rib and pique.
Ünteks' capabilities span knitting, dyeing, printing and garment manufacturing.
Recover has recycled cotton hubs in Spain, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Pakistan and El Salvador, processing mainly post-industrial textiles waste.
