Italian hoisery brand Oroblù has launced a Bio-Derived Sneakers Tights collection, combing Fulgar’s Q-GEO, a bio-based polyamide containing raw materials from renewable sources, and Renewable Lycra EcoMade.

Q-GEO is a polyamide yarn in which almost half of the raw material is bio-based. The renewable component is derived from industrial corn grown on land not intended for the cultivation of rice, wheat or other traditional food crops.

The yarn offers a balance of softness against the skin and moisture management, with 50% higher moisture absorption than standard polyamide and enhanced breathability, according to Fulgar.

Similarly, Lycra’s Rewewable Fibre is made with a bio-based raw material made from indutrial corn, and which results in carbon footprint reduction of about 40% compared with the traditional elastane.

Daniela Antunes, marketing manager at Fulgar, said: “This achievement confirms the role of research and the development of new solutions in supporting the transition towards a textile supply chain that is increasingly attentive to the raw materials it uses.”
