Apparel manufacturer Cintas has chosen plant-based fibre Sorona for a new collection of suits made in collaboration with Austin Reed.

Sorona contains 37% annually renewable plant-based ingredients and uses 30% less energy and releases 63% fewer greenhouse gas than the production of nylon 6, according to its manufacturer, DuPont.

“We are very excited about using Sorona for the first time,” said Kristin Sharp, director of design at Cintas. “Thanks to advancements in fabric technology, this collection provides employees with tailored, breathable and durable garments while being environmentally conscious.”

The suits are also made from wool and recycled polyester.

Dupont has said Sorona has given it a foothold back in the fibre business.
