Icebreaker uses merino in body lining

03/12/2014
Merino-specialist, New Zealand-based outdoor brand Icebreaker has introduced a new range of lightweight baffled jackets called Helix, using 100% merino wool in body lining, a first for the company.

Brands such as Mover, from Switzerland, and Ortovox, from Germany, have announced similar linings in recent months, but using other types of wool than merino.

Icebreaker has used 100% polyester in the exterior of the Helix range, a fill that is 88% wool and 12% polylactide and a body lining that is 100% wool (the lining in the sleeves is polyester).

Lightweight, durable, naturally odour-resistant and breathable, Icebreaker says the jackets are best suited to hiking and snow sports.
