VF completes deal for Icebreaker

04/04/2018
Apparel and footwear group VF Corporation has announced it has completed the acquisition of New-Zealand based outdoor brand Icebreaker.

The deal was first mooted in November. Icebreaker is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of VF Corporation. The terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

VF described its acquisition of Icebreaker as “an ideal complement” to its Smartwool brand, which also features Merino wool in its clothing and accessories.

“Together, the Smartwool  and Icebreaker brands will position VF as a global leader in the Merino wool and natural fibre categories,” it added.

Founded in 1995, Icebreaker now has 340 full-time employees and its products are sold in 47 countries through wholesale channels and branded retail and e-commerce platforms.
