Cambodia: Garment workers injured in stampede

Chinese media agency Xinhua has reported that at least 64 workers at a Cambodian garment factory were taken to hospital after being injured in a stampede triggered by an electrical fault.

"The electric fault triggered fears among workers and they tried to make their way out of the factory, which resulted in a stampede," said Mean Samnang, police chief of the Snuol district.

A factory worker quoted by the Phnom Penn Post put the figure closer to 200, and said the electrical fault had caused two fires.
