Li Ning tie-up to create ‘smart’ shoes for runners

Chinese sportswear brand Li Ning has signed up with smartphone maker Xiaomi to create a collection of running shoes that can communicate runner’s speed and distance using chips in the soles, connected to an app.

"We hope to use this opportunity to provide professional "smart" running shoes to running enthusiasts in China at an affordable price,” said the company in a statement.
