Lunative’s light-up jackets go into production
A German team have developed and are putting into production “electric” apparel: a collection of jackets incorporating piping that lights up in the dark.

After two years of research, Lunative launched a Kickstarter campaign in the summer to fund the first production line and received almost double its target funding at €44,000.

The jackets have illuminated piping which is powered for up to seven hours by a small battery charger in the pocket. The clothing is washable, according to the company – although the battery pack must be removed first.

Co-founder Stefan Henzgen said: “We are experienced professionals that have successfully established several fashion and technology projects and are aware of risks and challenges. We have developed and tested the technology and product in detail and we spend over two years in laboratory development to reduce and minimise all possible troubles.

“We have established production links that are reliable, insurable and capable of technical or textile production in Europe and Asia, including one of Germany’s biggest jacket manufacturers.”
