Teijin turns focus on smart wearables at new development centre

07/08/2015
Materials manufacturer Teijin has opened a Technology Development Centre at its Matsuyama Factory in Japan to serve as a base for developing high-performance materials, including smart wearables.

The centre has facilities for testing lightweight structural materials, wearables and a burn evaluation system for protective clothing (to be transferred from Osaka Research Center in December).

Projects are already under way for integrating high-performance materials and IT.

It will strengthen collaboration with Teijin Product Development China, a yarn and textile development site opened last year in Nantong, as part of the focus.
