The Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) Group has appointed its first executive director to lead the recently established legal entity, based in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Frank Michel previously worked as the director of regulation and sustainability management for 1WorldSync, a product information network, and has worked in governmental affairs and NGO liaison for industry associations, similar to ZDHC, for more than 15 years.

ZDHC Group said the appointment will help expand the group’s efforts in ramping up supplier training, developing industry standards for chemical management information capture and monitoring industry compliance with the ZDHC Manufacturing Restricted Substances List (MRSL).

He said: “This is an exciting time for the ZDHC Group. Significant collaboration and engagement with organisations around the world during the past three years has set the group on a solid path toward their ambitious goal. I am very keen to lead this new chapter and help deliver on the group’s long-term vision."

The ZDHC Group includes brand members adidas Group, Jack Wolfskin, Li Ning, New Balance Nike, Puma and PVH, plus associate members including the Association of the German Sporting Goods Industry, European Outdoor Group, Everlight Chemical, GermanFashion Modeverband Deutschland and the Stockholm International Water Institute.
