Archroma adds ZDHC compliant chemicals to One Way system
Chemicals company Archroma says it can help manufacturers reduce the level of impurities in the manufacturing process and has added Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) group-compliant chemicals to its One Way Sustainability calculator.
One Way was launched by Clariant, which Archoma purchased in 2013, as a tool for quick reference of chemicals.
ZDHC, which includes Nike, Puma and adidas, published a Manufacturers Restricted Substance List (MRSL) last June. The list sets concentration limits for the chemical groups banned under the ZDHC Joint Roadmap, an initiative launched in 2011 to lead the industry toward zero discharge of hazardous chemicals by 2020.
Archroma published its list of ZDHC MRSL-compliant colorants and chemicals for textile and in July last year.
“The update to One Way will dramatically accelerate the product selection process and time by ensuring that the selected product is not only reducing the amount of energy and water in processing, but also meets the criteria for wastewater set by the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals Group,” said Paul Cowell, marketing manager in the textile arm of Archroma.
“It adds a new level of support for mills and brand owners in their development of innovative textile solutions that are both ecologically and economically sustainable.”
