Huntsman responds to DWR demand with 63% renewable content finish

Singapore-based Huntsman Textile Effects and The Chemours Company have created a non-fluorinated durable water-repellent finish that contains 63% renewably sourced content.

ZELAN R3 is derived from plant-based sources from non-genetically-modified and non-food-source feedstock. It complies with OEKO-TEX Standard 100 requirements, and is compliant with the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) Joint Roadmap Manufacturers Restricted Substance List (MRSL).

Chemours is in the process of becoming a bluesign system partner, which it expects to complete by the middle of the year, so the organization, and the ZELAN R3 finish product can be achieve bluesign status.

Lee Howarth, marketing manager from Huntsman Textile Effects, said: “Brands are increasingly demanding products that are sustainable and renewably sourced without sacrificing high performance durability. ZELAN R3 finish was developed to satisfy this demand, delivering superior water protection while also reducing the environmental footprint of treated fabrics.”
