DWR made using no water becomes a step closer for Formosa
Taiwanese textile specialist Formosa Taffeta has signed a joint venture with Fung Jie Applied Material to develop a durable water repellent (DWR) function without using water.
James Lee, vice-president of Formosa Taffeta, and Alex Kum, president of Fung Jie, a subsidiary of Hong Kong-based Hydrowarriors Group, signed the deal after working together for a year and becoming satisfied that they can achieve good results.
Machinery, made by Belgian firm Europlasma, will be set up at Formosa’s factory for year-long trials to establish the desired finishing speed.
“No-water DWR technology is an advanced innovation in the textile industry,” said the companies in a statement. “With this agreement, both companies expect to bring green textile fabric to the market.”
