Salomon-owner Amer Sports has increased sales for the nine months to the end of September 6% to 1.7 billion.

The Japanese group, also parent of Wilson, Atomic, Arc'teryx, said footwear and apparel deliveries will peak in the third quarter, while winter sports equipment and sports instruments would be the main drivers in the final three months.

Amer president Heikki Takala said: “In fitness, we continued to focus on profitability whilst preparing for acceleration in 2016 with important new building blocks, for example Queenax functional training acquisition, and our spinning licensing deal.

“In August we announced a new five-year strategic ‘glidepath’ toward 2020 with focus on accelerating profitable growth especially in the five prioritised areas: apparel and footwear, US, China, business to consumer, and digitally connected devices and services.

“We have strengthened our retail opening pipeline, fuelled investment into digital products and services, and recruited critical talent.”
