New EOG president elected as Rolf Schmid leaves the role early

Industry body the European Outdoor Group (EOG) has announced John Jansen of footwear brand Keen as its new president. Mr Jansen was elected at the organisation’s summer meeting and extraordinary assembly in Friedrichshafen on July 14, with Jean-Marc Pambet of Salomon appointed vice-president.

Mammut chief executive, Rolf Schmid, announced that he was stepping down as EOG president with immediate effect, saying progress in achieving the key objectives he set himself for the role had been faster than anticipated. Two main goals he outlined at the time of his election were to expand EOG membership and, specifically, to welcome outdoor retailers into the organisation. Mr Schmid became EOG president at the start of 2014 and had intended to hold the role for two years.

EOG also elected three new board members, one of them, Rainer Angstl of Sport Schuster, the first representative of outdoor retail to be elected to the board. Antje von Dewitz of Vaude and Stefan Merkt of the Mammut also became board members.
