Outdoor sector will be need to be enterprising to capture Gen Z, says outdoor group

The general secretary of the European Outdoor Group has said engaging the next generation will be a challenge and that companies will need to be more enterprising than ever to attract young people.
 
Mark Held said: “As ‘Generation Z’ matures, it is clear that we are going to have to work very hard to reach millions of people and persuade them to head outdoors and become more active.  There is huge competition for their attention, so our sector needs to be even more innovative and welcoming.”
 
He added that the success of the first phase of the #itsgreatoutthere campaign gave him the confidence that it was achievable.
