SGS seeks to set up industry-wide testing protocol

05/11/2015
Inspection, verification, testing and certification company SGS has asked for companies in the footwear supply chain to contribute to an industry-wide chemical testing protocol it wants to establish.

Companies have until November 20 to submit information on regulatory compliance and can do so using this link. SGS has said it will treat the information it receives confidentially.

The organisation recently held a series of seminars in the US and France to examine this issue and said afterwards that it had received a positive response from representatives of leading athletic footwear brands who took part. Companies want the cost of compliance in the footwear industry to be more sustainable, SGS said.
