Testing and certification body SGS has opened a new consumer product testing laboratory in Hai Phong, in the north of Vietnam.

It said that the new “cutting-edge laboratory” would complement the facility it already operates in Ho Chi Minh City. With this facility in the south of the country, it gives SGS full geographical coverage of the country.

The new laboratory has the facilities to provide physical and restricted substance testing for a range of products, including textiles, apparel, footwear and handbags.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Jason Han, managing director of SGS Vietnam said: “It’s our pleasure to contribute and assist Vietnamese businesses to access world markets by providing professional and trustworthy services. With the aim of providing customers with the most convenient, cost effective and timely services, we decided to establish our second multifunction lab in Hai Phong city to cover the Northern region – an area with a fast-growing economy and lots of potential for the future.”
