SGS offers ‘Zero Discharge Holistic Solution’

Testing and certification body SGS has launched what it calls a Zero Discharge Holistic Solution, which it says can help textile and footwear brands move towards the zero discharge goal.

The approach offers training and ‘knowledge management’; chemical risk assessment to benchmark suppliers’ chemical and environmental performance; and best practice and system implementation to make recommendations for improvements.

SGS said: “While industry stakeholders have invested much effort in chemical and environmental responsible production, many of these challenges continue to persist. Using a holistic approach and its supply chain diagnosis tools, SGS can offer advice on ways to manage chemicals at the upstream level and mitigate many of the issues both during production and at the downstream level."

SGS joined the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) programme in October 2016.
