SGS acquires UK testing laboratory

Testing and certification body SGS has announced the acquisition of SGS Leicester, a UK-based UKAS accredited textile testing laboratory.

The facility previously traded as Texlab Ltd, but has been operating in cooperation with SGS since 2008. The company performs physical, chemical and flammability testing services for garment and textile retailers and importers, including major brands and distributors. It employs a total of 17 people.

“This transaction consolidates our extended network in the UK, adding strength to our softlines testing capabilities,” said Frankie Ng, CEO of SGS.
