Expanding EOG appoints new head of marketing

11/01/2016
The European Outdoor Group (EOG) has announced the appointment of a new member of its executive team. Arne Strate has joined the association in the role of head of marketing and business development.

Originally from Germany, Arne Strate has been working in marketing for 13 years and has held roles at Reef and, most recently, Volcom. He joins the EOG from boardsports brand Volcom, where he was responsible for the company’s marketing in Germany and Austria for a decade.

Of his new role, Mr Strate said: “Outdoor has developed into one of the most dynamic and interesting sectors in business, and the association has become very effective at representing and promoting the industry. However, the EOG still has plenty of potential to grow as an organisation, as well as building on the success of initiatives like #itsgreatoutthere and the European Outdoor Summit.”

The EOG now has six permanent members of staff, three more than at the start of 2013.  Led by general secretary Mark Held, the EOG team also includes market research manager Pauline Shepherd, CSR and sustainability manager Pamela Ravasio, and events manager Penny Taylor, supported by office manager Lucy Ryan and external website, PR and design agencies.  When it was originally founded in 2003, the EOG had 19 members. It now has 79 full members and 10 associate members, with representation from brands and retailers all over Europe.
