A trade delegation from Taiwan, commissioned by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and led by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), has visited various Middle Eastern countries to encourage business cooperation.

The delegation of 30 Taiwanese suppliers representing various industries visited Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait and the UAE from May 6 to May 20 in a trip aimed at improving trade relations between Taiwan and the countries.

TAITRA organised a series of trade meetings to give local companies the chance to meet with the travelling Taiwanese suppliers, who brought samples of some of their latest products and information about others. These included textiles, machinery and sporting goods.

TAITRA recently announced plans to open a business incubation centre in the Middle East in order to make it easier for Taiwanese exporters to market their products. A sales centre will also be set up in India for the same purpose. These developments are in line with a government initiative to encourage Taiwanese businesses to expand into new markets.
