ZDHC to launch chemicals portal
27/05/2016
Amsterdam-based ZDHC represents 22 apparel and footwear brands that it says are “leading the path towards eliminating key chemicals in the global value-chain”.
Its new portal will go live in August. Called the ZDHC Chemical Registry, it will include a comprehensive list of chemical products and an MRSL conformance assessment for each. It will map products against existing chemical accreditation such as bluesign, GOTS or OEKO-Tex STeP.
“We’re excited to be announcing the development of an open, flexible data portal to assist brands, suppliers and chemical companies assess a chemical’s compliance against the MRSL,” said ZDHC executive director, Frank Michel, on announcing the development. “Without this type of portal, each textile manufacturer would need to assess every product from each of their chemical suppliers against the MRSL to ensure conformance. Our goal is to provide a simple, easy, inexpensive way to provide this information to all stakeholders.”
