ZDHC launches online training portal

27/01/2017
The Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) programme has officially launched an online portal for chemical management training. It follows a soft launch in December.

The ZDHC Academy will offer brands and manufacturers certified training to improve their knowledge and practice of responsible chemical management.

ZDHC said the platform marks a “shift in focus” for the organisation, as it looks to shift from the development of tools to their implementation.

“ZDHC is entering a critical phase of collaborative implementation,” explained Carmen Chan, ZDHC training co-lead. “Developing safer chemical management standards is one thing, but to truly eliminate hazardous chemicals, the next step is to educate and support those working in mills, factories and even within brands, to understand how to implement these standards.”

The first course offered by the academy is an ‘Introduction to Chemical Management in the Textile Industry’, which is targeted at manufacturers and suppliers. February will see training sessions being held in Bangladesh, India, Italy, Turkey and Vietnam.

ZDHC plans to eventually provide accredited training modules in up to 20 countries, with an expanding list of courses and e-learning possibilities. The platform will also offer the ability to organise and administer tailor-made modules, which incorporate brand specific requirements.
