Kit and Ace may have tried to expand too fast

Kit and Ace, a Vancouver-based clothing brand run by Lululemon founder, Chip Wilson, and his family, has announced that it will lay off around 50 people at its head office.

Retail analysts in Canada have commented that Kit and Ace, which has stores in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and many US cities, as well as in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto and Winnipeg, may have attempted to expand internationally too quickly.

Set up at the start of 2015, Kit and Ace said it wanted to apply technical attributes to high-end fabrics in its collections. One example was qemir, a proprietary blend of 81% viscose, 10% elastane and 9% cashmere for use in women’s lines.
