US sportswear company Columbia reported sales of $2.38 billion in 2016, a 2% increase on the previous year and the highest revenue the brand has ever achieved in a calendar year.

Its net income for the 12 months, which stood at $191.9 million, was also a record. This represented a 10% increase year-on-year.

Columbia CEO Tim Boyle said he was “very proud” of the company’s full year performance, adding that it came despite “a challenging backdrop” in several of its most important markets.
He revealed that Columbia saw especially strong results in its Europe-direct markets, as well as decent growth in sales from the US.

Its revenue from apparel, accessories and equipment increased 2% to $1.87 billion, but there was a 1% dip in footwear sales, which totalled $511.6 million.
